I am a Personal Trainer, 44 year old Mum & INBA/IFBB Bikini Competitor on the Gold Coast. I consider myself extremely fit, healthy, motivated and very passionate about what I do. I believe in living a healthy and active lifestyle. I love to motivate and encourage others to help them achieve their goals. Looking back at my past , 20 years ago, I was not always a fit, healthy and active person. My diet consisted of take-away, junk food and sugary drinks. I owned a Travel Agency then so I was sitting behind a desk all day 6 days a week and never did any exercise. I had not realised or noticed what the months and months of bad diet and no exercise had done to me physically and emotionally! My wake up call was when a comment was made about my weight at one of my parties. My confidence was at its lowest. As soon as I got to work the very next day, I grabbed the Yellow Pages (No Google back then! ) looked up Personal Trainers and booked in that same day! Since then I have been hooked! I trained hard and learnt about nutrition. I changed my diet to healthier options and was at the gym everyday. The weight started to drop and I started to feel more alive and confident! I was no longer sluggish and tired all the time.
I sold my Travel Agency and started work at the Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centre. I found this job to be so rewarding as I was motivating clients and helping them with their weight loss goals. I think at this point I was beginning to realise what I wanted to do in life. In 2003 my daughter Kali was born. Having been consistently training, I couldn’t wait to get back into it. I walked everywhere with her in the pram! No excuses..6 weeks after I was back at the gym! For the next few years I was in a routine with my training. Then boredom set in! I thought…I go to the gym everyday, I train so hard and eat quite healthy…for what?? After being at the same gym for 7years and being surrounded by negative people who constantly discouraged me, I decided it was time for a change. I moved gyms made new friends and was in a more positive and encouraging atmosphere. That’s when I began to get serious about my training and compete in my first INBA fitness comp in September 2012. Since then I have competed in 7 comps, won 3 and placed 3rd in the latest one. I am proud of my achievements but it is not all about winning and getting a trophy. For me it’s about overcoming my fears and learning to be confident and to challenge myself everyday so that I can be the best version of me.
In 2013 I realised that I needed to share the knowledge and passion with other people. It was then that I decided to get my qualifications as a Personal Trainer. I wanted to show people that it is possible to build confidence and achieve anything you set your mind to. I am constantly learning ways to improve my nutrition and training so that I can educate my clients and help them with their journey to achieving their fitness goals.
My passion for health and fitness has lead me to meet some amazing people including Adam Bryant & TSN. When it comes to supplements, Adam definitely knows his stuff. Having my goals in mind, he recommend the supplements that would suit and I love it all! Having more knowledge and information I am now also able to recommend the products to my clients.
Along side my balanced diet, I am currently using:
Femme Fuel (pre workout)
ARS lime (during workout)
Fast-Pro Vanilla (after workout)
I continue to set myself goals everyday and strive to be the best I can be. To always be happy and have a positive attitude in life.
Being a mum, running a household, working two jobs and competing definitely keeps me busy, but if you have very supportive family and friends and manage your time well, find that balance then anything is possible!
